About our Festival

The event began as a low key community project with no budget for activities and events. The project was driven by local communities who wished to market their produce locally. A festival steering group was formed to coordinate the event, supported by MICT and a marketing consultant.

We are more aware than ever before that 'we are what we eat' and want to know where food comes from. On Mull & Iona food is from producer to consumer.  We support our local producers for quality, provenance and reduced food miles.  Our visitors enjoy these benefits, keeping our islands thriving. Our specially arranged Festival activities combine our wonderful food with our unique wildlife, giving you the opportunity to experience all that Mull & Iona have to offer. The aim of Mull and Iona food festival is to work with local producers to promote local products for local markets and to work towards creating a generic brand to help to enhance a marketing strategy for the islands.
